My Experience & Expertise

I’m Guy Markham, a geologist and geopressure specialist based in York, UK.

Since finishing my MSc in Structural Geology and Geophysics in 2004, I’ve worked within the Oil & Gas industry, initially in Exploration & New Ventures, and since 2012 specialising in Geopressure.

Today I work with some great teams around the world as a consultant geopressure expert, working for clients big and small on both Oil & Gas and Carbon Capture and Storage studies.

My Geopressure Experience

I first worked in Geopressure at Ikon Science under the guidance of Professor Richard Swarbrick. In my 5 years there I became Senior Geologist & Team Leader, responsible for undertaking and supervising technical projects across the globe.

Since 2017 I have acted as an independent consultant, and have been busy since providing my Geopressure services and expertise worldwide, nurturing relationships with many happy clients and partners, and also creating off the shelf products for the industry.

My experience now covers analysis in basins across Europe, Africa, Asia, South America and Australia, and includes leading regional studies in:

Norway: Barents Sea, Mid Norway, Viking Graben, Central Graben

UK: Central Graben, Viking Graben, Southern North Sea

Onshore Nigeria

Who do I work with?

I am lucky to work with many great professionals globally. In addition to working independently, it is also my pleasure to work with and represent:

  • I provide Geopressure expertise within a wonderful high performance team of explorationists and industry leading experts at ExploCrowd. Together, we’re making waves in Oil & Gas and Carbon Capture & Storage from their HQ in Stavanger, Norway.

  • I first discovered my love for Geopressure at Ikon Science, and I’m proud to say that not only do I still make constant use of their market leading RokDoc software, but I also add my consulting skills to their excellent in house team

  • Petroleum Exploration consultants based in London, UK. I first worked with Dave Melnyk and Jo Prigmore in 2009, and continue to collaborate with them, providing bespoke services and adding value for clients through Calderdale Geoscience.
